Narathip is the Head of Model Development Team—APAC, a member of Global Model Solutions and Advisory / Model Development Team. He joined Guy Carpenter in Singapore in 2017 to support the natural catastrophe model developments and advisory projects for APAC. The main responsibilities in the past several years have been focusing on flood modelling capabilities across countries in APAC, with flood models released for South East Asia (Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam and Singapore), East Asia (Japan and China), South Asia (India and Sri Lanka) with ongoing developments for other countries to fill in the gaps in APAC.
Recent ongoing development for other perils also includes the Western North Pacific Basin Tropical Cyclone Models (Japan Typhoon is the first in development). Narathip and his team have also been working collaboratively with the Peril Advisory group to provide the support on the model suitability analysis (MSA) on major perils, catastrophe responses as well providing the solutions on non-modelled perils. The team have also been involve with the works related to climate change impacts on Nat Cat models in the region.
Prior to joining Guy Carpenter, his research interests was on the seismic performance of structures, in which he holds his Ph.D. in civil engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago. After graduated, he continued to work in the insurance industry in the US on research and development of natural catastrophe modelling, with the focus on earthquake, hurricane and flood for the US region.
