NEW YORK, June 17, 2014 — Marsh & McLennan Companies (NYSE: MMC) issued the following statement today after the US House Financial Services Committee’s introduction of legislation to reauthorize the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program Reauthorization Act.

New York - Marsh & McLennan Companies applauds the US House Financial Services Committee’s introduction of legislation reauthorizing the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program Reauthorization Act.

This is an important step to ensure a viable marketplace for terrorism coverage. We look forward to working with the Committee and their staff to (1) clarify that coverage would be provided for catastrophic cyber-attacks that meet the statutory requirements of the Act; and (2) strengthen the protocols for certification in the event of a terrorist attack.

Moreover, we support the provision's proposal to establish advisory committees to the Treasury Department that will help explore additional ways to increase future private market participation in TRIA.

The Company looks forward to working with the House and Senate to extend this important publicprivate program and thereby reduce the uncertainty that exists in segments of the insurance marketplace.
