Lord Lang Opens Marsh & McLennan Companies Young Professionals’ Global Forum

LONDON, June 10, 2015 — Lord Lang, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc. (NYSE: MMC), today opened the Marsh & McLennan Companies Young Professionals' Global Forum 2015, which takes place in London. Entitled 'Broadening the Bandwidth', the two-day event aims to help future industry leaders deepen their understanding of the insurance sector.
Addressing over 600 delegates representing more than 70 organisations from across the global insurance and reinsurance market, Lord Lang said: "The Young Professionals' Forum provides a truly unique platform from which to further your ambitions to become leaders within our industry. We are honoured to be able to introduce you to an inspirational group of speakers over the next two days, who will provide their deep insight into the many critical issues currently challenging both the insurance market and the world as a whole."

Following on from the success of the Young Professionals' Global Forum 2013, the event has once again attracted an outstanding array of industry leaders, from within the insurance sector and beyond. Speakers include: FW de Klerk, former President of South Africa and Nobel Peace Laureate; Mike McGavick, CEO of XL Group; the Honorable Tom Ridge, CEO of Ridge Global, LLC, 43rd Governor of Pennsylvania and First Secretary of the US Department of Homeland Security; and Inga Beale, CEO of Lloyd's.
Victoria Carter, Chairman of the Young Professionals' initiative and Vice Chairman of International Operations at Guy Carpenter, said: "Through the Young Professionals' Forum we aim to support the development of the emerging leaders of our industry. We see engagement, education and empowerment as the central tenets of our approach. Through events such as this, our goal is to facilitate engagement with senior industry figures as well as other young professionals; provide an environment focused on continuous learning; and empower the next generation by helping them improve their networking skills, expand their contact bases and by promoting a shared ambition to succeed.
Over the next two days, delegates will hear presentations on a wide variety of issues central to the insurance industry, ranging from pandemic, bio terrorism and cyber, to weather, emerging markets and product innovation; as well as discussions on the principles of leadership and its role in achieving resilience. The Forum will culminate with a Gala Night which will celebrate the extraordinary talent within the insurance industry. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Teenage Cancer Trust.
